*...Or Is He?*

Thanks for coming back to finish out my musings on Steve Rogers! You already know the drill, so let's dive in! These are supposedly the 10 best reasons for not liking him, so it's about to get good.

Reason #10: Didn’t Tell Tony About His Parents

Okay, I can breathe again. Here is a logical argument. (Ironic that I find it more enjoyable to read the arguments that make sense, even though they are against what I’m saying).

Yes, I agree. Steve did wrong here, and he, Tony, and all the Avengers paid for it. I 100% agree with this. At the end of the movie, so does Steve. He writes a heartfelt apology to Tony and tries to make amends as much as possible while on the run. At least Steve recognizes his faults quickly and tries to be better.

Reason #9: Held A Grudge Against Howard

The whole point here is that he held a grudge against Howard for the misunderstanding over Peggy…and that this somehow is what made his relationship with Tony so strained?? I don’t see any proof that Steve and Howard had grudges or didn’t like each other. Don't try so hard, Cap-haters.

Reason #8: What Was His Plan With Thanos’ Gauntlet

You know that scene in Infinity War when Steve and Thanos are fighting literally hand to hand? When Thanos frowns, realizing the power and will of Steve Rogers? And Steve lets out a yell before being thrown to the side? Yeah. He was protecting Vision and Wanda so they could destroy the stone. He was trying to do everything he could to avoid the inevitable. What more of a plan does he need?

Reason #7: Got His Team Arrested

After the Civil War. Well, they got themselves arrested, it was their choice to go against the law. Steve comes and gets them unarrested. Remember that part?

Reason #6: Why Just the Shield

I think it shows a lot about his character that his main weapon of choice is not even meant to be a weapon, but something of defense. It speaks to his protective and kind nature. Not to mention it makes him different from all the others who have blasters and guns.

Reason #5: Prideful in the Worst of Times

So, this is talking about how Steve put down his shield in hand-to-hand combat in the beginning of Winter Soldier when fighting with Batroc, because Batroc taunts him about it. However, rather than this being prideful, I saw it as being humble! Steve is showing once again that his identity is not attached to his superhero identity or to his shield. Just like he always introduces himself as Steve Rogers rather than as Captain America. His superhero self is not the most important thing to or about him.

Reason #4: He Flew Back to the Compound (at the beginning of Infinity War)

I’m trying really hard to not get sarcastic here, which is more than this article did. I’m trying to see things from their point of view, I really am.

Reason #3: Maybe Wash that Uniform

I give up. Huge, exasperated sigh and facepalm. You don’t have to like him. But you do have to give a somewhat logical reason.

Reason #2: Worthless Panther Shields

Okay, well, as long as we are judging heroes based on how their weapons appear to us, let’s talk about Tony Stark’s early suits of armor. Or Peter’s first suit. Or Black Widow’s stingers against a hoard of aliens.

Reason #1: He didn’t sign Coulson’s cards

It is a shame that Coulson died before he got his cards signed. But it’s not Steve’s fault- he was never even presented the cards to sign.

Okay, well, clearly I lost a bit of patience through this journey. I got a little tired of writing responses to some arguments that were so bad they defeated themselves. If you need anything clarified some more, please let me know. I’d be more than happy to go into more detail.

In the end, it seems that most of the haters on Steve Rogers are more against him just because they insist Tony Stark is the best Avenger. And Tony Stark fans, much like Stark himself, can’t bear to have anyone else win, or even tie. Cap fans, however, don’t usually hate Stark. Much like Rogers himself, we recognize that there are different types of greatness, and we are more than happy to make room for as many heroes as possible. We have no need to prove ourselves. If we are worthy, there’s no need to show off. So welcome, Stark fans. Every fan. The Rogers’s Fan club welcomes you, even if you can't lift Mjölnir.
