Chehalem Valley Dance Academy

Purpose Statement: This post gives a look at the sort of online presence a local business has so that I can look back on it for my project this week.

The Chehalem Valley Dance Academy offers dance classes of various sorts to children of various ages, with a focus on how dance skills can spill over into life. Upon getting to their website, the home page has pictures of small girls in tutus dancing and smiling. They give a brief overview of the types of classes they offer, "ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, pointe, acrobatics, and technique," and offer places to sign up for a free trial. They also have their mission statement, saying, "Chehalem Valley Dance Academy is committed to providing high quality dance training in an inclusive and family friendly environment. At CVDA, our motto is dance skills are life skills. We inspire, empower, and educate our students to become great dancers but also to be conscious, compassionate, and happy contributing community members."

The website is mostly aimed at parents of young girls, because they make a big deal about how they want the young girls to come and have fun, using language that's aimed at making the parents want to sign up for a free trial. They want to assure the parents that their little girls will be learning life lessons and skills, and so it's worth their money. While I'm sure they would welcome little boys, they know they will mostly get girls because almost all the staff are girls, and the summer camps have themes such as "Rainbow Unicorn Party" and "Princess Passport Party."
